Head of Healthcare Compliance

With over twenty years of experience in healthcare compliance, Ms. Nelson manages and directs the healthcare compliance and business ethics practice for MCRA. She is responsible for assisting clients in identifying opportunities to enhance their overall healthcare compliance efforts, thereby reducing enterprise risk, and ensuring the effectiveness of their corporate compliance program. MCRA's healthcare compliance department helps organizations assess, develop and implement healthcare compliance and privacy programs, with a particular focus on medical device companies and companies involved in clinical trials.

Prior to joining MCRA, Ms. Nelson served as Chief Compliance Officer for a variety of healthcare organizations, including national and regional health plans, hospitals, physician practices, joint ventures and academic research institutions. She has extensive fraud and abuse experience and has led healthcare organizations through federal and state investigations. Ms. Nelson is experienced in all aspects of corporate governance and routinely advises boards and senior management in complex compliance and ethics matters. She holds Masters and Law degrees and is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and Boston University School of Law.

Mr. Contreras holds compliance certifications through the Healthcare Compliance Certification Board in the following: Certified in Healthcare Compliance Fellow (CHC-F), Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC), and Certified Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), and is licensed by the State of Florida as a Healthcare Risk Manager. Mr. Contreras is a member of the examination writing committees for three national healthcare compliance certifications through the Health Care Compliance Association: Healthcare Compliance, Healthcare Compliance Fellow, and Healthcare Privacy Compliance. Mr. Contreras is also an active faculty member for the Health Care Compliance Association’s Compliance & Privacy Academies.
